Are you ready to be part of something bigger, something that brings people
together for a great cause? The 2024 Tokyo Yamathon is fast approaching, and we're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us in making this event truly unforgettable.
Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or trying it out for the first time, there's a place for you in our Yamathon family.
Why Volunteer?
Volunteers play a critical role in making the Tokyo Yamathon more than just an event—it becomes an experience filled with meaning, connection, and impact.
But it's not just about giving back; it's also about having a blast! We want our volunteers to enjoy themselves, make new friends, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Here’s a glimpse into what you can expect as a Yamathon volunteer:
Volunteer Roles: Find Your Perfect Fit
Team Coordinators, Leaders, and Lead Support:
Assist our Volunteer Director in ensuring that all volunteers are having a great time and fully understand their roles. You'll organize breaks and rotations, giving everyone the chance to try out different tasks and keep the energy high throughout the day.
Timing Officials, Ranking Officials, Chip Return, and Photo Check:
Congratulate teams as they complete their adventure! Your attention to detail will ensure everything runs smoothly, from verifying challenge completion to sharing key information with other volunteers.
Cheerers, Marshalls, and Guides:
Be the heartbeat of the Yamathon by cheering on participants, guiding them to the start line in the morning, and welcoming them to the finish line with applause and encouragement in the evening. We’re looking for volunteers with infectious energy to keep the spirit alive all day long.
Finish Guides:
Help teams navigate the finish line, ensuring they complete all the necessary steps — chip return, photo checks, timing, and more. This role is perfect if you’re looking to rack up those daily steps while keeping the event on track.
Photographers:
If you’ve got a knack for capturing moments that matter, we want you! Bring your photography kit and help participants remember their journey with beautiful, high-quality photos. You’ll be responsible for setting up those perfect shots, including the all-important finish line photo with our sponsor boards and timing clock.
Hear From Our Volunteers
Volunteering at the Yamathon is more than just helping out; it's about joining a community. Here’s what some of our past volunteers have to say:
AYA ITO"I joined Yamathon in 2016 as a one-day volunteer, and it changed my life. What started as a last-minute decision turned into an experience that I’ve returned to year after year. The passion and dedication of the organizers inspired me deeply, and the bonds we formed made us feel like family. Volunteering at the Yamathon is a chance to make someone happy while having fun and building lasting friendships."
MIYU KAMEYAMA"In 2018, I volunteered at the Yamathon and it was an eye-opener. It wasn’t just about the event itself, but about understanding my own abilities and learning how to work with others in a real-world setting. At first, I didn’t get why people would walk around the Yamanote Line, but seeing the joy on participants’ faces when they finished made everything clear. I was proud to be part of something that brings so much happiness to others."
